What Makes A Good CCTV System?

Monday, June 28th, 2010

The modern CCTV system is only as effective as the sum of its parts, and therefore if you want to ensure that your CCTV system is matching your expectations, you need to ensure that your whole home security infrastructure is up to the job and incorporates features such as monitors and MPEG-4 recorders.

Obviously effective CCTV security systems will depend most squarely on the camera technology, and with this in mind you should ensure that your CCTV cameras are up to meeting your specific requirements. For example, if you need a camera in a vulnerable location, such as outdoors, then you should be looking for features such as tamperproofing and weatherproofing.

Also, there are wide variety of options in regards to resolution etc., and therefore if you want a system that offers advanced visual CCTV monitoring then you should be looking for cameras that have good resolution and more.

CCTV security cameras themselves will only act as a deterrent against criminal activity, and therefore if you want your CCTV systems to be completely effective then you should ensure that they are bolstered with additional items such as recorders and monitors.

For example, an MPEG-4 monitor with 500GB of storage space, will be able to store hours of footage which removes the need for consistent monitoring, and also will provide that all important footage should you need to take a particular criminal issue further.

Finally, highly effective CCTV systems will also incorporate a monitor, which will be able to draw on a diversity of camera sources, giving you a centralised view of the whole of your security infrastructure – thus completing the perfect CCTV system!

How To Choose Your CCTV System

Friday, June 25th, 2010

In recent years the options for CCTV security cameras have grown exponentially, and with significant advances in technology, it is now possible for homeowners to install CCTV systems that are at once hugely effective and affordable. However, with such a great choice of CCTV security cameras there is a problem: how do you choose the right CCTV system?

Even though the cost of an effective CCTV system is viable for a whole range of budgets, they are still a an excellent investment and each additional cctv camera will impact greatly on the overall cost of your system. With this in mind, careful consideration should be given to the number of cameras that you need in order to achieve optimum coverage of your premises.

Of course, working out the optimum coverage for your home is a technical issue, and therefore only an accurate summary will be reached if you are in consultation with a professional in the field of household security. Therefore it is a good idea to have a security survey done on your home by a renowned company such as SecurityCAM.

On purchasing your CCTV security system, you will be confronted with a range of options in regards to factors such as the resolution of the CCTV security cameras and therefore you will need to pay careful consideration to exactly the quality of camera equipment that you need and can afford.

If you want to avoid the problems when deciding on CCTV security cameras then you could opt or a great CCTV package, such as the 4 CAM PRO from SecurityCAM.

Choosing A Wireless Home Security System

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Whilst a wireless security system can give you an unrivalled security infrastructure, at their cost they represent a real investment, and therefore you should carefully consider the kind of wireless system that would best suit both your budget and specific requirement

Whilst choosing a wireless security system – like any investment – deserves careful consideration. By opting for wireless home security you are sidestepping many of the potential issues that would arise with a wired burglar alarm and, specifically, you will be avoiding much of the upheaval that would be required to install a wired infrastructure.

However, this does not meant the decision to opt for a wireless security system should be taken lightly and there are still some factors that should be considered.

Firstly, as alluded to you should endeavour to purchase a home security system that is cost-effective in regards to your specific requirement and, for example, try and work our exactly the number of cameras you’ll require to garner effective coverage.

Similarly, you should only be opting for features that you think will optimise your specific security capability, and whilst a wireless system can be adapted very easily to a sudden change in requirement, overspending on equipment may not be appropriate for a more modest purpose.

By opting for wireless home security systems and burglar alarms from SecurityCAM you can be assured not only of a great value system but also a system that is highly effective, benefitting from the latest in functionality and technology.

Is CCTV Really Effective?

Monday, June 21st, 2010

With the coalition government planning on cutting back on the use of CCTV in the UK, the pertinent question is why was CCTV usage so prolific, if there can be cut backs on its usage in the future? And is CCTV, then, really an effective tool in the fight against crime?

Essentially there are two kinds of CCTV system – public and private. And, therefore, only the public CCTV systems will have an effect on crime statistics – and with this in mind, CCTV has been proven as a deterrent for certain crimes, such as vandalism. For example, in an area where CCTV security cameras are clearly visible then it is less likely that a crime, such as vandalism, would be committed.

Research suggests that it is perhaps this “deterrent” effect of the CCTV system which is their greatest effect – however, this is more difficult to prove when compared to solid figures such as conviction rates, which suggest less strongly the positive effect of CCTV systems.

Whilst there is still room for argument when it comes to public CCTV cameras, and with the cost of public systems never more under scrutiny there is still a level of ambiguity regarding their value in society. With private systems on the other hand, things are more clear cut, and by bolstering your home security with CCTV cameras you can guarantee an additional layer of security that will both act as a deterrent and help you reach a positive conclusion should a crime take place.
