Secure Business Premises

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Whatever your line of business, if you have premises with stock or machinery you are going to need to think about more than just a good set of locks on the doors. All business premises are vulnerable to break ins by professional burglars, often on a mission to steal to order. Whatever you have in terms of machines or products, it is likely that there is a market for them that doesn’t want to pay retail prices, so it pays to make your premises secure by utilizing intruder alarms.

One of the first things you need to consider are effective burglar alarm systems. Exactly what kind of system you need and which areas of the premises you want it to cover will vary depending on the business you are in. Obviously all premises from shops to warehouses are most at risk during the hours that the business is closed, and all the workforce has gone home. However, some companies will operate 24 hours, and it may be that you only want some areas covered by your burglar alarms at certain times of the day.

This is when it pays to bring in a firm of security experts. Here at SecurityCAM, we specialise in all kinds of burglar alarms – from domestic to the most complex of business security systems. We offer site visits, with no charge, carried out by highly trained and police vetted members of our staff who will discuss your individual requirements and design a system tailored to your needs.

CCTV In The Workplace

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

CCTV systems are generally installed for security purposes, and they are useful for practically any business premises to keep an eye on the property for break ins, and to deter any potential burglar. Along with good burglar alarm systems, installing CCTV should help keep your premises and stock safer. However, increasing numbers of businesses are using CCTV within the workplace.

Now this may seem a little like a Big Brother attitude by ‘spying’ on what your staff are doing, but in fact the companies that use CCTV systems within their premises generally use it to make sure that the only personnel and visitors that are inside the building, or specific areas in the building, should be there. This is especially important for businesses where there is a strong need to protect their intellectual property. Of course, for some businesses, depending on the nature of the products they produce or store, there will always be a level of petty theft by employees. Whilst an internal CCTV system will never completely eradicate the problem, it will certainly reduce it.

In order to help our clients achieve the right level of internal and external CCTV security, we offer an initial site survey, carried out by highly trained staff, to assess the individual needs of the companies who come to us here at SecurityCAM. Each client has individual needs and all the specifics need to be met, or exceeded by us to give them both secure buildings and secure minds.

Shop Security

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

When you are running a successful retail business, you need to make sure that everything your customers take out of the shop has been paid for at the tills. Unfortunately for retailers, shop lifting and theft are a way of life for some people. Whilst a large company may be able to factor losses from goods that are taken, it is more difficult for small businesses. Worse, if your business often only has one person in the shop and cash in the till then you are vulnerable to being robbed if you don’t have efficient CCTV security systems in place.

One of the simplest ways to reduce your chances of being robbed and to reduce shoplifting is to install a CCTV system. Although it may not protect everything, there is good evidence to show that less robberies occur in shops with CCTV, after all not all thieves want to be seen on TV. Having strategically placed CCTV cameras in areas of the shop that cannot easily be seen from the tills will also have a deterrent effect on any would-be shoplifters as they know they are likely to be being watched.

Upgrading the CCTV security at your premises can often reduce the amount of insurance that you have to pay, as well as protecting your stock and your staff. Here at SecurityCAM we have a lot of experience helping retailers of all sizes with the planning and installation of the right CCTV system. Obviously each shop is different and the best advice can be obtained after a site inspection has been carried out, in order to assess the right system for you.

Progressive Home Security

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Increasing your home security can be done step by step, and initially you need to make sure that you have good quality locks on all your external doors. After that you should think about installing window locks to ensure that your windows cannot be forced; such a small thing can make many burglars think again about breaking into your home.

Yet you do need to be aware that there is more than one kind of burglar out there. Many burglaries are carried out by small time regular burglars, and these are the ones who will go out night after night breaking into the least protected homes to steal easily portable and easily saleable items. There are the opportunists who will see a handbag through a window and try the door on the off chance that it is unlocked.

On the other hand, there are the more professional burglars who look around and plan their break in, and short of a good burglar alarm system, you are unlikely to deter them with a few locks. At the top end of the scale are the thieves who break in and steal to order; if you have valuable paintings or collectables then these are the ones most likely to bother you. At this point you need something more than standard burglar alarm systems, and should be seriously considering additional security systems with links direct to the local police station.

Here at SecurityCAM we have been installing all levels of alarms and CCTV systems for many years and are happy to advise on home security.
